Learning Outcomes and Application This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to identify, plan, control and finalise complex information and communications technology (ICT) projects.It applies to individuals who may be required to use high-level business and project management skills to ensure effective and timely delivery of projects.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
Duration and Setting X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting.

Gather evidence to demonstrate consistent performance in conditions that are safe and replicate the workplace. Noise levels, production flow, interruptions and time variances must be typical of those experienced in the ICT project management field of work and include access to:

relevant computer software packages

suitable hardware

codes, standards and legislation relevant to the jurisdiction and the project

project documentation

research resources, including product information and data, theoretical texts and other information.

Assessors must satisfy NVR/AQTF assessor requirements.

  • Identify the strategic and operational needs of the project during the planning phase

  • Make corrections, changes and additions to the project plan in light of changing circumstances to ensure project aims and outcomes
  • Monitor resourcing to support the project and make corrections to reflect changing circumstances
  • Report overall project progress to senior management or funding bodies as required and in line with the project plan
       
Element: Finalise the IT project
  • Finalise the project in line with the project plan
  • Conduct handover to staff members responsible for the ongoing implementation or maintenance of project products or services efficiently, effectively and in line with organisational procedures
  • Debrief project team members and relevant stakeholders about the conduct of the project and the outcomes achieved
  • Prepare a report analysing the strengths and weaknesses of the project plan and the conduct of the project
       
Element: Use the IT project to contribute to improved policies and processes
  • Identify and analyse opportunities for wider organisational learning, including changes to processes or policies generated by the project
  • Forward opportunities for future further developments following project completion for consideration by senior management
